Delete a guide

Permanently remove a guide and its content, and understand why deactivating is usually the better option.

Updated

Deleting a guide removes it and its content permanently.

Consider deactivating instead

For most reasons hosts want to remove a guide — the property is between seasons, you are rebuilding it, you need to free a slot under your plan limit — deactivating does the job without losing anything.

A deactivated guide is offline for guests but keeps all its content, and can be brought back at the same web address.

Delete only when you are certain you will not want the content again.

Before you delete

  1. Copy out anything you would struggle to rewrite — instructions, host notes, appliance details
  2. Remove or replace printed QR codes and cards in the property
  3. Take the link out of your booking templates and saved messages
  4. Tell anyone who relies on it, such as a cleaner or co-host

What happens

The guide stops working for guests immediately. Its sections, settings and images in that guide are removed.

Your media library and places are account-wide, so photographs and recommendations you used elsewhere are not affected.

The web address

Deleting a guide releases its web address. Anyone can then take it, so if you might want it back, deactivate rather than delete.

This cannot be undone

There is no restore. If you are hesitating, deactivate the guide and revisit the decision in a month.
