Who can see your published guide
Understand exactly who can open a published guide, and how to control access when you need to.
Updated
A published guide is a public web page. Anyone who has the link, or finds it, can open it.
There is no guest login
Guests do not create an account, enter a password or verify a booking. That is deliberate — it is why a guide opens in one tap — but it means the link is the only thing standing between your guide and anyone else.
Who ends up with the link
More people than you might expect:
- Every guest you have ever sent it to
- Anyone they forwarded it to
- Anyone who photographed the QR code in your property
- Anyone they showed the guide to during their stay
Treat everything in a guide as readable by all of them, indefinitely.
Search engines
Guides are not promoted to search engines, but a public page can be discovered if a link to it is published somewhere public. Do not rely on obscurity.
How to control access
Deactivate the guide. It goes offline immediately for everyone, and your content is kept.
Change the web address. The old one redirects for 90 days, so this is a slow way to cut off access unless combined with deactivating.
Remove the sensitive content. The most effective option, and the only one that helps if something has already been seen.
If something sensitive has been published
Remove it, then change whatever it protected — the door code, the password. Assume it has been read, because you cannot know that it has not.
There is more on what does not belong in a guide in what to keep out of your guide.
